But as the song continued, the humming stopped. The recording didn't end. Instead, Leo heard the sound of a door opening in the background of the audio. Then, he heard the distinct, heavy creak of the floorboard right behind his own desk—the one he was sitting at now. The file was no longer on the server
The page loaded with agonizing slowness, populated by the classic "Download Now" buttons—three of them were traps leading to malware, but Leo was a veteran of the file-sharing wars. He found the real one, the small, plain button tucked away in the corner.
